Beef steak with mashed potatoes, roasted tomatoes and garlic

A well cooked steak is always a good idea for dinner. The secret of it is hidden in the meat, and I know that all of the men will agree on that. I am lucky enough to live right next to a super market where you have fresh meat every day. For the laziest days you can even buy ready to cook steak. Honestly this is what I did the other day 🙂 I choose nice and juicy steak, covered with three kinds of pepper. I made a side from mashed potatoes and in addition I baked some tomatoes and garlic with olive oil and thyme. I hope you will enjoy the recipe.

Ingredients:

– two pepper steaks
– salt and pepper
– olive oil
– 3 tomatoes
– 2 whole garlic cloves
– mashed potatoes (recipe in my blog)
– fresh thyme

Preparation:

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees (gas 9). Cut the tomatoes and the garlic into halves. Sprinkle some salt, olive oil and thyme. Bake for 10 minutes.

Preheat a frying pan and add some olive oil. Cook the steaks for 4 minutes on each side for rare, 5 min for mid. rare and 6 to 7 min. for medium. I cook mine 3 minutes as I like the meat blue rare. Place the steaks into a separate plate and let them rest and soak their juices.

Garnish the steaks with the baked tomatoes, garlic and mashed potatoes.
